Dance for Jesus

Do you remember those jewelry boxes with the tiny, little dancer inside that played a song as she spun around?  I have one my Grandma gave me and I absolutely loved it. Especially being a ballerina from a very young age, I had no problem dancing and twirling around uninhibited and with no restraint.  As time passed that abandoned little girl became more self-conscious and the dancer went dormant for quite some time.

Years later, the Tom Petty song called Wildflower came on on my iTunes and I decided in that moment that that song would be my anthem in that season.  I broke out in dance and spun all around the floor with reckless abandon.  One of the stanzas says, “You belong among the wildflowers, you belong on a boat out at sea, you belong with your love on your arm, you belong somewhere you feel free.  Run away go find a lover, run away let your heart be your guide, you deserve the deepest of cover, you belong in that home by and by.”  In my singlehood, I have chosen to place Jesus in the space where a significant other might fit in most love songs.  It’s so sweet to be wrapped up in our destiny which is to love Him and be loved by Him first.  Psalm 149:3 says, “Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.”  Dear sisters, my hope and wish for you is that you would find freedom in dancing for Jesus. Singing out His name and glorifying Him with praise.

On my date with Jesus, we had coffee and omelettes at a bustling Cafe in Savannah, GA.  It was so busy in fact that they sat a woman across from me at the community table.  Needless to say, it was difficult to savor our time together with the noise and the lack of personal space.  Thankfully, after we were able to stroll through the flower-filled squares throughout the city and felt the freedom I talk about above.

Take a moment to ask the Father How much He loves you and see how he answers back. How would you operate differently in your life if you could feel the depth and height of His love for you?  As you sit quietly and listen, do you have an impression or vision of how great that love is?  If so, write it down in a journal or somewhere safe where you will never forget it.

Dear Jesus~I pray that your sweet daughter would know the depth of your love today. May she revel in the goodness and relish this time with you as a single woman.  I pray that her days in singlehood would be short.  I pray that she would know that she is complete in you right now without a husband.  Your word says, “All my longings lie open before you, O Lord: my sighing is not hidden from you.”Psalm 38:9 What a relief that you know exactly the desires of our hearts.  What peace we should have in our soul knowing that all of our longings are cared for deeply by you.  Jesus please release us to dance and sing with the utmost of joy in your presence.  Free us up from anything constricting our bones and bind the enemy from hindering our liberty to worship you.  We want to feel alive in you this day.  We choose to dance for you and live!
