Date Number #27

My God, In whom I trust

Everyone knows someone who may be going through a battle, either mentally, spiritually or physically.  I have found such refuge in praying for protection over my home, my life, even my whole self.  There are times when it feels like the enemy is on the loose and it is our job to step into the armor and fight the good fight.  Do you know that you are a strong warrior?  You have been equipped with everything that you need for spiritual battle.  One of the things I want to emphasize here is the importance of praying for our significant other relationships to be protected.  The enemy especially doesn’t like a relationship that is seeking to keep the Lord at the center of it.  Psalm 91:1-4 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.  Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”  We can pray this over each other and ask God to keep the vultures and intruders far away from our bond.

On this date with Jesus, we are sitting at a little Cafe on John’s Island at a picnic table. They are known for their artisan sandwiches and burgers, which is what I just ordered.  It’s loud and the hustle bustle of the lunch crowd move in and out quickly.  Jesus is talking to me about the great protection we have under His wing and how we should come there often to rest and rejuvenate.

Over the last year of dating Cary, I have felt there has been a battle at different times and in the moment I didn’t always recognize it.  The enemy attempted to bring divisiveness around issues of faith and communication.  Now, I am more ready to stop and pray immediately for the Holy Spirit to interrupt the cycle of spiritual warfare.   I even speak Psalm 91 aloud over us.  You an do this too.  I recommend even replacing your name where it says “my” or “you.  For example, “He is Kate’s refuge and Kate’s fortress.”

Are you in a place to speak life and prayers over your home, finances and relationship? Do you know how much power there is in prayer?  It is a Game Changer!  May we open ourselves to the full conceptualization of spiritual warfare and the antidote which is calling out the truth in prayer.  The enemy balks at the very sound of the name Jesus.  Let us pray now for protection and peace over our lives.

Dear Jesus~I love the power in your name.  I love that the enemy shudders at the sound of your voice.  Thank you that in prayer we can take back territory that he has stolen.  I have authority in your name to break off doubt, fear, complacency, ect.  I pray for breakthrough in this love.  I break off anything in this relationship that is not of you. Please help us in our communication and at keeping you at the foundation of our love.  Thank you that you have given us the full armor to step into and fight the good fight!  May you be our refuge and fortress all of our days.  In Jesus Name.  Amen!
