The Prayer of St. Francis
Well, we are crossing over into new territory, friends! I decided to call this Date 41 while it actually feels like Date #1 as I am beginning another 40 dates for Engaged couples. Not that you cant follow along if you aren’t engaged. There will be wisdom for all and it’s healthy for our preparation to be engaged. I have just come off of a few day women’s retreat and am feeling refreshed and renewed. It is truly magnificent how God shows up when two or more are gathered to pray and fellowship. We actually had a woman get saved at the retreat which was a miracle in itself. I praise God for the work of His hands.
Today Jesus and I are out with Cary at a little Italian restaurant near us. We are huddled up on the patio and it looks like we may get a storm. The sky is absolutely gorgeous. Jesus is talking to me today about being his vessel and ambassador of love. We all have that potential and that call on our life no matter what our vocation. The Prayer of St. Francis is as follows: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.” May this be our marching order for today! We can lend a hand in so many unexpected places. In this season of my life I am working at a spa and I have multiple opportunities to love on people daily. I pray over robes and spa slippers daily and hope that women will be robed in love and grace.
Sisters, may our lives be a living testimony of love. We are commanded to love above all else. Without Him and without love we are nothing. I want us to pray that we will be filled with the Holy Spirit and be equipped to love our fiance’s well. I want us to live selflessly and be willing to lay our lives down for our brother. This is not easy in our humanness. Now let us pray for wisdom and discernment on how to do this. He will equip us.
Dear Jesus~Today I seek your face for wisdom regarding how to love well. Father I want to love my fiance and love people your way. May I be a light and an ambassador of your joy and testimony. You are such a sweet and gracious father to me. Fill me anew with the freshness of your Holy Spirit this day and always. May I be unwavering in my commitment to him and to your calling on my life. Make me an instrument and a fragrance to your people that has the invitation and beauty of perfect love. Cover us Jesus with wisdom and discernment that is supernatural. I love you Lord and I give you all my love. I give you my life again today and always. Amen!
