A Firm Foundation
Today my date with Jesus was in church and for once I’m not eating anything (lol). He was reminding me of the importance of building your life with your partner on His firm and solid foundation.
Matthew 7:24-25 says, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Sisters, may we construct a relationship build first on the love of Christ and due everything we can to keep Him at the center. This is no small feat, especially when you have two humans who come from different faith journeys or upbringing. My fiance and I have been on different faith journeys so this has been an area of our relationship that pushes us to work hard. We pursue devotional and coffee time together a few mornings a week, which is vital to keeping the hunger for God growing.
Are you equally yoked in your relationship? Does your partner know the heart of Christ and has he accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior? If not, RUN! No, I’m only kidding, but seriously. You will save yourself much heartache and strife down the road by pursuing a relationship that has Jesus at the center. Sisters, I want us to spend some time in bold, audacious prayer for our partners. We desire a man who is strong in faith. We desire a partner that points us to Christ in all circumstances. Amen? Amen.
Dear Jesus~it is in you that I find my strength. It is in you that I find my hope for the future. You are my model and example of wholeness and purity. Father I long to be more like you. Please give me the mind of Christ. I love the way you love me and I love the way you are pursuing my love. Please strengthen him in his inner man. I desire for our relationship to be so in sync with you so that we might love and serve others in our community well. Please be our firm foundation. We declare that we build our lives upon your love. We submit to your good, perfect and pleasing will. Thank you for this day and all that you have for us. I want to be your faithful servant. Thank you that we belong to you forever. No one or nothing can snatch us from your sheepfold. It’s in your precious name I pray. Amen!
