Transformed by Fire……
We have a loving and faithful Father who has promised to transform us from the inside out. Romans 12:2 in The Message version says, “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
Sisters, do you know that he is waiting and ready to take the broken shards of our life and repair them. He turns ashes into beauty. This week got a call from a long lost friend I hadn’t talked to in about 4 years. She called to share with me her home had burned in Northern Cal. She lost everything except her precious dog and chickens. Thank God! It was an electrical fire that blazed through the home in an instant. I was amazed by her confidence and trust in the Lord even after having lost all of her earthly possessions. Being authentic and real in the face of circumstances and life in general is so beautiful. I admire her for that. Kendall Payne says in one of her song, “Real is more attractive than a slick and polished mask.” Do you notice that my friends? If we could just be real, we would save ourself so much pain and heartache being fake and putting on those thick masks that keep us sheltered and so called “safe”. They really don’t keep us safe, they keep us from being our true, best selves.
Are you trapped in a cycle of feeling stuck in your character and attributes? Are you open to the Holy Spirit transforming you from the depths of your being and from the inside out? Today jesus and I are going totally against my new eating regimen and having a pizza at a local brewery. He is talking to me about this whole idea of transformation through the gift of pain. Like fires, and floods, and broken relationships. It’s not easy girls, but we can withstand the hurting temporarily for the long tern gain in our character. I would like us to spend some time in prayer for our loves and ourselves. That we might be changed indefinitely for His glory and our good.
Dear Jesus~Thank you for changing me. It hurts right now, but I am so grateful that you care enough about me to change my heart and to bend it more towards you. I pray for my love, that he would submit to your ways this day and all of his days. I pray that we wouldn’t settle into ordinary lives, but that we would live EXTRAordinary lives in you. We are on an amazing pilgrimage as believers and have the opportunity to live fierce, bold lives for Jesus! Father, please help me to quickly respond to you and let you bring out the best in me. Refine me by fire! In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
