When I was a little girl I was quite driven, strong-willed and determined. I told my Mom a few key things which later came to pass. One of which was moving to San Diego when I grew up and the other, that I would travel to Africa to work with the women orphans and widows. It seemed as if God had places this desire in me from such a young age and I knew Africa was calling me to missionary work.
Today I want to highlight calling and the dream givers faithfulness to draw us to the places near and far where he desires for us to serve. In about 14 days I will fly out of LAX and depart for Gulu, Uganda Africa with a team from San Diego. I absolutely cannot wait to do this work as well as to see my spiritual daughter, Florence. The partnerships in Uganda have been growing over the last 8 years since I first traveled there on medical mission and I couldn’t be more thankful. Sisters, the word for today comes from Psalm 37: 5-6 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” I love this word and it always reminds me of my call to Uganda.
Do you have a particular draw to a people group or culture? Do you feel a call to do mission work here stateside or afar? I want us to think through and meditate on where the Lord might be calling you? Some of us are called to go, some to support and commission and some to do completely different humanitarian efforts. The dream giver is just waiting to download a passion and a purpose into your soul that you can’t ignore. I’m reminded this morning of Queen Esther in the bible and how her calling and bravery was used to change a nation. God can use anyone to fulfill His purpose and to change the world. I want us to spend some time praying for our callings and dreams as well as for a particular unity with our future husbands. It would only make sense that Abba would link our life with someone who has a similar heart and calling.
Dear Jesus~Thank you that you are the dream giver! Thank you that you put this burning in my heart for Uganda, Africa. There’s so much work to do and I am compelled to do my part in it. Thank you for my precious sisters and the promptings and nudges you may be giving them right now. Call her out Father! May she go to the nations and love your people. Jesus may you make the justice of her cause to shine like the noonday sun. We love your purposes Father God and how we receive a deep gladness from doing your work. We desire to be your hands and feet in a broken, desperate world. Send us out this day to love and give. It is all about a commitment to service in humility to honor you. We give you this day! Please give us divine appointments and link our lives with your Kingdom connections. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!
