The Velveteen Rabbit

Do you have a favorite children’s book that is on your shelf possibly collecting dust?  Do you remember your Mom, Dad or babysitter reading to you as a small child?  I personally love The Velveteen Rabbit and all that is symbolizes.  It is all about becoming real and authentic.  In the story the Skin Horse helps the rabbit to understand what real is and how we get there.  It is simply beautiful! There are so many lessons we can personally discern from this story including the pain and transformation that goes into becoming real.  Today I would like to talk to you about transformation and refinement by the Holy Spirit.  Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”

Sisters, we need to be bringing our true self to our lives!  Are you aware of your most authentic self?  Have you asked God to search you and know if there is any offensive way in you?  This is not an easy thing I realize, but it is the most sure fire way that we can feel the most free.  Today Jesus and I are at a little Italian restaurant and it’s the first time in a while that we have been on a date.  It’s so special to just be with him and enjoy every minute of it.  Savoring Jesus helps keep the mind content and at peace.  Now I would like us to spend some time praying for our husbands and our own authenticity.

Dear Jesus.  I thank you that I am becoming more real in you.  Thank you that you knit me together in my mothers womb and you know everything about my thoughts and how I am wired.  Thank you that you designed my husband and I in a way that we are perfect for one another.  I am so excited to see this union unfold before my very eyes.  Will you bless him this day and cause your countenance to shine upon him and give him great peace.  I love you Lord and I’m thankful for this process of refinement and transformation I’m in even though it hurts sometimes.  You are a good, good Father and I love you.  In Jesus name.  Amen!
