The temporary trappings of this world!
I was out last night with one of my dear friends at a free concert on Kiawah Island and it was a glorious evening. I don’t quite know what it was other than the fabulous company, but the weather was divine, the food delicious and the vibe was so cheerful. My friend is one of those very wise and contemplative women who gives me a lot to think and write about. I believe I have a handful of entries to write after our evening of deep conversations.
Today I’m writing from the nail salon where Jesus is talking to me about leaving a solid legacy in this world. The temporary trappings of this world are so fleeting sisters. The allure of wealth and material “stuff” can totally deter and distract us from what really matters. I am guilty of getting caught up myself, so I have adopted a new perspective as of late that involves focusing on service in my community and giving myself away for the greater good. We are on a Saturday afternoon date and heading to a free concert tonight for a friends birthday.
Sisters, are you aware of what your legacy may look like? Are you focused on the things of this world or the things of the Kingdom? How will you be remembered years down the road long after your life is over? Did we choose love and service above ourselves? Did we continuously point people to Jesus?
The word for today comes from Deuteronomy 6: 4-9, “Hear, O Israel: The our God, the is one. Love the your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your forehead. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Let us pray for our future husbands today that they too would desire to leave a legacy in this world. It is so crucial in these times we are living in. The trappings of this world will never satisfy ladies, they never do. Now we shall pray for legacies that are bigger than we could ever dream or imagine.
Dear Jesus~Thank you that you are the only one who truly satisfies! Thank you that the things of this world are temporary, but you and your Kingdom are eternal. This is truly a gift! I pray for my husband today and all of his days. I ask that you would refine him and shape him to be about the things in this life that truly matter for his legacy. How will the world remember him Jesus? Is he kind? Is he humble? I pray so Father God. I pray the same for myself as well. I desire to be kind and for my home to be a place where all who enter know that you are Lord my life and house. Jesus please take our lives and let them be a living sacrifice unto you. Thank you for my future love and for your divine timing in bringing us together. I love you Lord and it’s in Jesus name I pray! Amen!
